RECYCLING CENTER

Kearny County operates a recycling center located at the Kearny County Landfill.

The City of Lakin operates a cardboard route with 22 dumpsters, 8 located in Deerfield and 14 located in Lakin. These are emptied daily. In addition, trailers are located behind the Lakin Administrative Center and at 619 Main Street in Deerfield. Bins are provided for cardboard, plastic, office paper, newspaper, and magazines. These trailers are emptied on an as needed basis. The center also conducts a glass route to local businesses on a weekly basis.

Items accepted at the recycling center are newspaper, cardboard, glass, office paper, plastic and lead acid batteries. The center is equipped with one vertical bailer. All items are processed and shipped to Grant County at Lanes Recycling.

The recycling center is staffed by two full-time employees. The bins in each city allow for 24 hour drop off.
